TabWave Privacy Policy
TabWave is a browser extension that replaces the new tab page with a board of columns for saving tabs. It has no account, no analytics, no ads and no servers of its own. Nothing about your tabs, saved links or settings ever leaves your device.
What TabWave stores, and where
Everything below is stored only in your browser's local extension storage on this device. It is not synced and is never sent to the developer or anyone else.
- Your board: column names, and for each saved link its title, address (URL) and site icon.
- Your settings: theme, accent color, size, which side the open-tabs panel is on, and similar choices.
- Your background: which background you chose. If you upload your own image, a resized copy of it.
What TabWave reads but does not store
To show the open-tabs panel, TabWave reads the titles, addresses and icons of your open tabs and the names and colors of your browser tab groups. This information is only displayed. It is stored only when you save a tab into a column.
Internet requests
- Background photos. When the Photos background is selected (the default), TabWave downloads a landscape photo from picsum.photos, which serves photos from Unsplash. The request contains only the photo's number and the image size. Like any image download, picsum.photos and its content delivery network see your IP address and browser type. Settings also shows a small preview photo from the same source. Choose another background (None, a gradient or your own image) and no photos are downloaded.
- Site icons in Firefox. Firefox has no built-in icon cache for extensions, so TabWave loads a saved link's icon from the address that website itself provides (the same icon your browser shows on the tab).
- Links you open. When you click a saved link, your browser opens that website as usual.
TabWave sends no other requests. It does not use cookies, analytics or tracking of any kind.
Sharing
TabWave does not sell, share or transfer any data. The developer never receives any of it.
Your control over your data
- Delete any link or column on the board (every change can be undone with Ctrl/Cmd+Z).
- Settings → Import / Export… saves your whole board to a file you keep.
- Uninstalling TabWave deletes all of its stored data from your browser.
Changes to this policy
If TabWave's data practices change, this page will be updated before the new version is released, and the date at the top will change.
